Nice to meet you
Welcome to our page! For those who do not know us yet, we are Franklin and Josien. We both left our office jobs to travel the world for one year. Most of it by bike, as cycling is our biggest passion.
We both really love triathlon and cycling in particular. We both have raced many middle distance (1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21.1km run) races, countless olympic and sprints and one long distance – Ironman Zurich (3.8km swim, 180km bike and 42.2km run). In 2020 Josien started training with Yvonne van Vlerken and hopefully we will be able to race again at Challenge Roth in 2021.
Our love for triathlon brought us together! We met in July 2018 at the finish line of a middle distance triathlon in Prague (1.9km swim, 90km bike ride and 21.1km run). We talked for a while and decided to meet up that evening for a few drinks in the city. While drinking a beer we discussed our life stories and decided that it would be a great idea to meet up sometime for a ride in Heidelberg or Switzerland. This already happened a couple days later and from there all moved fast! Only 2 months after we met we went on our first holiday together to Brazil, Franklin’s home country.
We had the best vacation of our lives in the North of Brazil. During this vacation, we decided that we wanted to take a full year off from work and travel the world together. Franklin has always been crazy about travelling and already visited 64 countries. Josien has lived all over the world from The Netherlands, to New Zealand and St. Lucia and used to travel every month for work.
Both our companies agreed that we could take one year off unpaid leave, which we had planned to start in June 2020. As we all know Corona happened, so we postponed the trip to October. We are now not able to really plan anything so we travel without a plan. Exactly the way Josien loves it.
Through this page we want to keep our family and friends informed, but we also want to inspire other people who want to travel the world. So we will share our experiences, the best cycle routes and all other amazing things we will encounter.
On the 28th of September we decided that Tanzania is the first destination of our trip!
